Steps/mm:

  • Measure 120-150mm of filament from the entry to the extruder.

  • Heat hotend to desired printing temperature.

  • Use the Move functionality of the printer to push 100mm of filament through the hotend.

  • Measure the remaining amount. The extra 20-50 mm of filament is intended to let you easily measure the amount if MORE than the specified 100mm gets fed through the printer.

  • Go into the Settings for the printer and find the currently set Steps/mm setting.

  • Use the following formula to calculate new Steps/mm value:

  • Amount of filament printer was SUPPOSED to feed through the printer divided by the Amount of filament ACTUALLY fed through the printer times the current Steps/mm value.

I just did this on my printer and these are my values:

  • Amount printer should have fed through the printer: 100mm

  • Amount of filament fed through the printer: 105mm

  • Current Steps/mm Value: 110.5

  • 100/105 = .9523

  • .9523*110.5 = 105.23
